Our New Apprentice

We are delighted to have a new apprentice.

Kai Melake, 19, has joined us here at Wing Mirror Man on an apprenticeship via training provider Now Skills.

Kai, who lives in Bolton, will study a National Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Multi-Channel Marketing during his 18-month apprenticeship whilst working at Wing Mirror Man.

Kai will also shadow Thomas Bailey, our e-commerce lead, and learn how we maintain and develop our website which features more than 24,000 products.

The learning part of his apprenticeship is done online and is composed of four days of masterclasses every month with an online tutor as well as six hours a week of independent study.

Although Kai studied maths, further maths and computer science at A-Level (at Bury College), he decided he wanted to switch to marketing after his A-Levels.

Said Kai: “Whilst I was good at maths up to GCSE-level, I didn’t enjoy maths at A-Level, so once I got my A-Levels, I realised I wanted to do something different and I’ve always been interested in digital marketing. That’s why I’ve chosen this NVQ.”

“I’m looking forward to my apprenticeship,” he added.

Joshua Speed, Business Development Manager, said: “We are delighted to continue our support of the apprenticeship programme in the area. We have recruited several apprentices since 2019 and believe it provides a better alternative to university for many people by offering excellent on-the-job training whilst apprentices gain a nationally recognised qualification and earn while they learn - and, of course, don’t come out of it with any debt like most university students do.”
